Last week I was very lucky to attend the launch of Schwarzkopf’s new and exciting ‘Trend lab’.

   

Following  a day of ‘blue-sky’ brainstorming with marketeers and hairdressers held at the beautiful academy situated in the heart of Hamburg I was whisked away with everyone else to Schwarzkopf HQ in a leafy suburb of the city to see ‘Trend lab’ in action.

It was great to catch up with old acquaintances and I was delighted to see Bernie Koelbl on stage launching the new concept. Bernie was joined by Simon Ellis and Matthieu Chauvet to talk us through what Style lab was, here is some of the info from the official press release:

   

Trend Lab allows Schwarzkopf Professional to respond quickly to the latest trends spotted in the industry. The in-house professional studio provides hairdressers around the globe with instant hairdressing inspiration, in real time.

Celebrating hairdressing through inspiration and education, hairdressers can expect real trends executed on live models, via engaging how-to tutorials and product demonstrations on Schwarzkopf Professional’s social media channels. As well as through hairdresser-led webinars.

Simon Ellis says: “The Schwarzkopf Professional Trend Lab is a real step change in digital delivery. It is a brand-new channel that gives us the opportunity to capture, connect and deliver education-based, real time hair and fashion trends, as they happen.”

 

The opening night hosted several VIP guests – a selective audience of international trend watchers, hairdressing experts plus research and development specialists – who enjoyed an up close and personal catwalk show, presented by Schwarzkopf Professional’s Global Ambassadors, Tyler Johnston and Lesley Jennison. 

 

The Ambassadors teamed up with digital influencers Mikey Henger and Jeffrey Roberts (below) to reveal the latest hair trends through an impressive line-up of commercially relevant INSTA-looks showcased on several models; including fashion bloggers Frida Mindt and Pola Fendel. Receiving a full colour and styling service, our star bloggers walked the catwalk to present their viral, on-trend looks, created with the latest Schwarzkopf Professional products.

For me, it was a truly inspirational event with fabulous hair, great guest artists engaging with the host Bernie in an amiable, professional and fun way. The colour work was stunning, from an intense aqua blue/green to the latest craze blorange, and with sublime haircuts that showcased the (Schwarzkopf) products and the skills of the guest artists it really was a fab night.

Style Lab aims to react and respond to the the fast paced life of social communication with imagery and words that help hairdressers stay ahead of the game and with the launch receiving such high raise for the finest of hamburg’s hairdressing world it certainly seems that Schwarzkopf have captured the zeitgeist! An interesting, energetic and inspiring  concept that certainly fits the social world we now find ourselves living in. The different looks all had their own # attached to them creating the starting point for likes, shares and tags #geniusidea

Unfortunately mrH had to miss the after show party as the last flight out had my name written all over it, but I will watch with great interest to see how the UK takes to this innovative approach to staying ahead of trends.
